Started by two real estate agents in their 20s with a pen and pad in 1973, RE/MAX has since grown into a vast, global organization. Our sales associates help more families to buy and sell real estate every year than any other brokerage company in the world.

1973 | Two Great Minds, One Vision

RE/MAX is born. Gail and Dave Liniger, two 20-something real estate agents from Denver, Colorado, decide to develop a new real estate concept. They create RE/MAX, an acronym for "real estate maximums", a system where quality agents would keep a maximum proportion of their commissions and enjoy the freedom to run their business as they saw fit.

1994 | The Balloon is Ready to Take Off

RE/MAX lands in Europe. Walter J. Schneider and Frank J. Polzler bring the hot air balloon across the big pond. One year later the RE/MAX sign begins to appear in real estate offices in Spain, Israel and Italy.

2008 | European Expansion

The European RE/MAX family has grown considerably by now and the following countries have joined the three pioneers: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.

2017 | A network where everyone can grow

The familiar red, white and blue RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon can now be found in 38 countries across Europe, with more than 20,000 agents working in over 1,800 offices.

2020 | Truely Global

RE/MAX has been ranked the #1 real estate franchise company for the 7th consecutive year by the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 rankings.  The RE/MAX network has surpassed 25.000 agents in over 2000 offices in Europe, and globally there are now 130.000 agents in 110 countries providing real estate related services to sellers and buyers. 

The best part of the growth of RE/MAX, is that it has just begun.
